Everything you need to know

Getting started with Efe Health

Welcome to Efe Health by Doc CJ, a private wellness medical practice dedicated to personalized care and health optimization. Before your first visit, we want to make sure you have all the necessary information to ensure a smooth and efficient experience. Below is an outline of what to expect, including our office policies and the steps involved in your Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) journey.

Lab Blood Testing Step 02 of 05
Lab Blood Testing

Before your First Consultation

Before your initial consultation, lab blood testing is required. This will be done while fasting and can conveniently be completed at our office. If you've had lab work done within the last 4 months through your primary care physician, you may submit those results to avoid duplicate testing. This blood panel helps us assess your baseline hormone levels and is crucial for developing an effective treatment plan.

First Bioidentical Hormone Consultation Step 03 of 05
Initial 90-minute Assessment

Your First Bioidentical Hormone (BHRT) Consultation

During your Initial BHRT Consultation, which typically lasts around 90 minutes, you will meet with one of our medical providers for an in-depth discussion. We'll review your symptoms, medical history (both personal and family), any past surgeries, and your lab results. Together, we'll use this information to develop a customized BHRT treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Treatment with BHRT may be indicated for symptoms including:
Night sweats Hot flashes Fatigue Weight gain Low libido Poor memory Loss of muscle mass Poor sleep Dry skin Hair loss Brittle nails Decreased muscle strength Joint pain
If you've been experiencing any of these issues, BHRT may help restore balance and improve your quality of life. For more information and symptoms that BHRT may address, click here for men, and click here for women.
Second BHRT Consultation Step 04 of 05
4–6 Weeks Follow-Up

Your Second BHRT Consultation

The Second Consultation takes place 4–6 weeks after starting the BHRT protocol. During this 60-minute appointment, we'll review your symptoms, any changes you've experienced, and your response to the treatment plan. If necessary, additional lab work may be conducted to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment as needed.

Third and Fourth Consultations Step 05 of 05
Ongoing Maintenance

Your Third and Fourth Consultation

As part of our commitment to ongoing care, we require follow-up consultations every 3–6 months. These visits allow us to assess your progress, discuss any new symptoms, and adjust your BHRT plan accordingly. The frequency of these visits will vary depending on your individual response to the treatment. Regular follow-ups ensure that we maintain the best possible outcomes for your health and wellness.

A personal message from Doctor Jean

Empowering Patients Through Prevention, Precision & Wellness

DJ
Doctor Jean, DO Founder & Medical Director

As an emergency medicine physician, I have spent nearly two decades caring for patients at their most vulnerable moments. Day after day, I witnessed the downstream consequences of delayed intervention, unmanaged metabolic disease, hormonal decline, and preventable health crises. These experiences fundamentally shaped my philosophy of care and fueled my commitment to shift healthcare away from reactive emergency treatment toward proactive prevention, health optimization, and personalized longevity care.

"This mission is not only professional — it is deeply personal."

Like many men, I began to experience symptoms of andropause, including declining muscle strength and conditioning, mid-day fatigue, reduced libido, and worsening cardiometabolic biomarkers. Over time, my laboratory data reflected a clear trend in the wrong direction, ultimately leading toward a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome and elevated cardiovascular risk. Despite my medical background, the decision to initiate bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) was not an easy one. It required careful consideration, data-driven evaluation, and honest self-reflection.

However, as both a physician and a patient, I recognized that inaction would only allow my health trajectory to worsen. Taking ownership of my health meant making informed, proactive choices. I committed to a comprehensive approach that included BHRT when clinically appropriate, improved adherence to daily physical activity, intentional nutrition choices, and the integration of additional evidence-based modalities to support metabolic, hormonal, and cardiovascular health. The result was not just improvement in symptoms, but a meaningful shift toward vitality, resilience, and long-term health.

At Efe Health, this same philosophy guides how I care for my patients. I believe medicine should focus on identifying root causes, optimizing physiology, and empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about their health. Through advanced preventive strategies, personalized care plans, and bioidentical hormone optimization for both women and men, my goal is to help patients avoid unnecessary disease progression, reduce chronic health risks, and enhance quality of life.

My vision is simple yet profound: to keep people out of the emergency room by helping them build health, strength, and longevity long before crisis occurs. By partnering with patients on their wellness journey, I aim to support not just longer lives — but better ones.
